Year End S.T.E.A.M. Challenge!
This has been a really great year in a lot of ways and I wanted us to finish even stronger than we had began! The last day of S.T.E.A.M. couldn't be more fun than with a BALLOON challenge!
To give us some perspective we watched the video to the right the balloons history and how they are made.
(click the picture to watch the video on YouTube)
The challenge itself was pretty straight-forward; using the provided balloons (in a variety of colors and sizes) and painters tape, the students were to construct a free-standing balloon tower as tall as they could within the allotted time
( 20 minutes).
The team with the tallest tower, WINS!
Pre-K and Kindergarten
Yes, it is true. I teach S.T.E.A.M. to these little guys too! Ms Judy and I headed up the two teams for this class of
up and coming "SteamSters". And wouldn't you know? Ms Judy's team beat the S.T.E.A.M. teachers team!
How cool is that?!
1st and 2nd
I think I will give a little more help tot he first and second graders next time. After I used my electric balloon blower upper, we were on our way, sort of. Well, whether or not their towers were high, their spirits were soaring and everyone had a lot of fun!
3rd and 4th
The third and fourth grade class was a combination of last day silliness and determination. There is some evidence of some future builders here!
5th thru 8th
I have found the key to success with the middle school set is to make any assignment a game or a competition. These students LOVE having the opportunity to shnie! Check out how they did!
