As promised I began coordinating each months "Art Camp" project to the artist I write about for the News Enterprise Newspaper a couple months ago. This months article (which will appear the fourth Wednesday just under the "Wednesdays Woman" article, will be about Eric Carle. I have chosen his Mega-popular book, "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" as this months literary inspiration! His artwork is known as "Paper-piecing" using "painted-paper". This is a art style in which the artist paints paper with various different techniques and uses it to cut out the shapes necessary to make the artwork. Being I only have 1 hour with my beloved library students, we don't have the time necessary to make real painted paper. But, what we CAN do is use scrapbook paper with super cool prints on it!
And that is just what we did! Check out the students "beary" wonderful work below!
