December Felt Bear Plushies: A Cozy End-of-Year Project
To wrap up December in the art room, we made something extra cozy: felt bear plushies! Students hand-sewed their bears from felt, practiced beginner stitching skills, and chose from a variety of accessories to give each bear its own personality.
What really stood out was how much care students put into their sewing. They were so focused, thoughtful, and involved in their work that many didn’t even notice I was taking photos while they stitched!
When I asked what they planned to do with their bears, many students said they wanted to put them on their beds and sleep with them, which made me smile. Others shared they were excited to give theirs as gifts to parents or siblings.
This project was such a hit that many students asked if we could do more sewing-and-felt projects in the future… and I think we just might!
